ZEN Rooms Lovina Rice Field and Ocean View

The rooms didn't live up to how the resort presents them, and the restaurant had very little service along with a ridiculous drinks menu. It's a shame, because the hotel could be amazing. I wouldn't stay again, though the visit wasn't completely awful. The room had a strong musty smell. The toilet flushed but filled nearly to the top and drained very slowly. On our last morning, the water didn't go down at all. Several things were broken, including the towel rail and power points. The Wi-Fi never worked, and neither did the available Netflix and Prime. I reported the problem, but nobody came, so we couldn't watch anything. The queen bed was very hard. There were only two small pillows, but after I called, they brought two excellent extra large ones. There were some lovely parts: the grounds, restaurant, and pool were beautiful, with views of the pool and ocean from the restaurant. We had a delicious kombucha welcome drink with rempayek chips by the sea at the second outdoor bar/cafe. Breakfast was also very nice. The lobby staff were lovely, and the roomservice cleaner was friendly and did a great job.

The team were welcoming and attentive, and we had a great stay. The hotel is right on the beach, with beautiful surroundings and wide outdoor areas for walking or relaxing. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and had a smart TV. It seems to have the potential to become one of Lovina's best 4-star hotels. A few details could be better, like the floor stains, the shower, and how breakfast food is set out. Items that need refrigeration should be kept cold. We still really enjoyed our time here and look forward to coming back on our next trip.

The problems began before we even settled in: the Valentine’s Day and anniversary bouquet my boyfriend had arranged and confirmed wasn’t there, and nobody had warned us. We got a small cake instead, which spoiled the surprise. Then, at midnight, someone called to ask if we wanted a dolphin tour the next morning, with no regard for our rest. The room itself was hard to live with. Its door handle was faulty and took real effort to open, several times a day for all five days. Worse, each shower sent water across the bedroom floor all the way to the main door. We reported it and asked to move rooms, but an engineer only said it was fixed, and it wasn’t. We were told there were no other rooms. Staff said they’d add rubber sealing to the shower door the next day, but it never happened, and there was no follow-up. We had to request extra towels every day and mop up ourselves. Housekeeping was just as unreliable. Our cleaning requests were ignored more than once, we repeatedly had to ask for towels, and eventually went to the lobby to collect them. In our 5 days 4 nights, the room was cleaned only once. The spa felt uncomfortable and poorly managed. We were told walk-ins were fine, then asked to wait an hour. Treatments took place outdoors with little privacy, and undressing there didn’t feel comfortable. The beds and thin covers didn’t look like they were changed between guests. The scrub and hair treatment seemed rushed and unprofessional, and I had to walk back to my room with wet hair. At dinner, my meal was finished before my boyfriend’s food even arrived. We asked several times and got told to check with the kitchen, without anyone following up. It finally came after he firmly complained. They apologized and removed the charge for one drink, but the experience was already spoiled. The staff were smiling and polite, but the actual service lacked reliability, follow-through, cleanliness, and care for guests’ comfort. I know no hotel or resort is perfect, and I rarely leave a negative review. A couple of small issues would have been fine. Instead, nearly every part of our 5 days 4 nights stay went wrong. This was the worst hospitality experience I’ve had, and I wouldn’t recommend the resort.

The hotel's beach was where we boarded the boats for the dolphin tour, which is what brought us here. We had lovely sea and garden views. There were ants in our room, but after I called room service, a cleaner came quickly and sprayed repellent. The water activities staff were patient, friendly, and professional. Highly recommend Jetski and Snorkeling!!!
