Andelis Homestay

We were running late for our train, so the owner personally drove us to the station. He’s a cheerful, helpful person who also gave us information and helped make arrangements. The stay was well worth the cost.

We stayed at Andelis Homestay for five months, which says a lot about how much we liked the place and the people. Bram and Zita, thank you for making it feel like home and for all your advice. 🙏 I’d happily come back, and recommend it to both expats and locals. ☺️ The owners are warm and welcoming. If you’re new to Yogjakarta, they can share tips about the city and help organize trips. The homestay is in a quiet spot away from the main street, so you don’t get all that road noise, but a mall and supermarkets are nearby. Superindo is about five minutes away by scooter. “wGym” is roughly 300 m away, and there’s a coffee place called “Kaktus” on the corner, along with people selling fresh coconuts for only 10k. Our room was upstairs with a balcony, tables and chairs, a fridge, and a big wardrobe, handy for a longer stay. The Wi-Fi was great for working or studying. The rooms and surrounding area were regularly cleaned, laundry help was available, and the shower and AC worked well. I especially liked the uniquely customized batik-style bedsheets. The kitchen is downstairs and has what you need to cook. Just remember to clean up politely since other guests use it too. Bram can also help arrange scooter rental at very good prices.

Andelis Homestay is where I usually stay when I vacation in Yogyakarta. The host and his family are the best part, he’s very kind and helpful, and I haven’t forgotten that. The rooms are clean and cozy, with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, a balcony, fridge, and kettle, pretty much all you need. They also offer affordable tours. I recommend it for couples, small families, and groups.

The area is quiet and peaceful, so there’s no street noise, but the homestay is a fair way from the city center. You’ll need your own vehicle or can rent a bike from them. Even so, I’d stay here again if I come to Jogja, and recommend it if you don’t mind the location. We got a lot for the low price. The host was kind, and the homestay felt really clean and homey. Our room had a delicious breakfast, a big fridge, cable TV, water dispenser, hot shower, table and chairs, balcony, and a spacious cabinet.
