Aston Gejayan Yogyakarta Hotel & Conference Center

The parking situation was chaotic, and the drop-off space felt far too small for such a busy hotel. I also found the shared pool and smoking area difficult as a parent: people smoked by the pool, so my child couldn’t swim. I couldn’t smoke there either with kids around, and had to wait until midnight. I booked a non-smoking room because I was traveling with my 1-year-old. Although the 10th floor was labeled “Non-Smoking Floor,” halfway through our stay the corridor and the area inside my room by the door smelled strongly of cigarettes. I don’t know whether guests were smoking discreetly or smoke was drifting down from the bar on the 11th floor. When I raised it with reception, I was told the 10th floor was actually a smoking floor. I pointed out the sign, but the receptionist just smiled and ignored me. A day after checkout, the hotel accused me of damaging a Google Nest in the room. I never touched it and unplugged it as soon as I arrived because of privacy and brightness concerns. Reception had cleared me at checkout, but they still blamed me later. When I asked for proof showing when the damage happened, they went silent. The service was terrible, with no consideration for families. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. During my several-day stay, the room stayed clean and tidy, and housekeeping did a good job. They also responded quickly when I needed help.

The breakfast buffet had plenty of variety and was delicious, and I liked the good-quality coffee too. Aston Gejayan is also a great location, just a short walk from Pakuwon mall. My room was comfortable, clean, and nicely designed, which made for a cozy stay. The staff were helpful and friendly, always ready to assist with a smile. I had a very pleasant time and would definitely recommend it for business or leisure.
