D'Paragon Karang Malang

I often visit this hotel because many of my friends study at UNY and stay there. I’m an UNY student, and it’s a calm place with a waiting area and really nice staff. There are also rooms for people from outside the university, so it’s a cheap, quiet option right in the center of Yogyakarta. I highly recommend it.

It’s nice, though it could use a bit more furniture since it feels pretty empty.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food choices were decent. Someone can make different kinds of fried eggs if you ask, though you have to go outside to reach the dining room. The room was tidy but dated, with a refrigerator, but bugs on the floor and mosquitoes and flies inside. The shower head barely worked, although there was both hot and cold water. The toilet sits right beside the shower, with no door between them. Wi-Fi kept cutting out. It’s not too far by car from food and shopping areas. This wasn’t the worst place, but it definitely wasn’t the best.

As a UNY student, I walk past the hotel almost every day but have never gone inside. I often see people coming and going, including lots of foreigners. I hope I get to stay there myself one day. Hehehe
