A comfy place with nice staff in Kaliurang. If you’re planning to go jeep riding, it’s better to stay here the day before. I’d definitely come back for another jeep trip.

After a tiring day, this quiet village hotel near Mount Merapi was a nice place to rest. The receptionist was very kind and made check-in easy. There’s a small car and motorcycle parking area. Since restaurants are hard to find in this quiet corner of the village, it’s useful that they sell food. I ordered their homemade nasi goreng with mendoan on the evening I checked in, and it was delicious.

The garden and porch were lovely, with flowers and orchids, and on a cool morning with a light drizzle the whole place felt especially peaceful. My friend and I stayed two nights in Nov 2019 at this small hotel in the quiet villages of Merapi. The rates were very reasonable, and the rooms and shared areas were clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, and took care of everything we needed. They even had biscuits, snacks and fruit for our coffee breaks. I’d book RedDoorz Merapi again if I visit Merapi.

The rural setting at Palma Inn in Pakem, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region was quiet, and the price was inexpensive. The rooms were clean but rather small, with a double bed and limited facilities. The AC was good, free WiFi worked well, and hot water was steady, though TV reception was limited. Even so, I can’t recommend staying here. My wife and I checked in yesterday for the first time in my life, and just two hours later the power went out during heavy rain, lightning and thunder. There was no emergency generator, so we had no lights, hot water, TV or free WiFi. Frustrated, we decided to check out early. Then, as we were leaving, we saw the owner bring a dog to the inn and staff playing with it. The inn’s online listing says “Pets are not allowed.” Do they not understand that label, or are they choosing to ignore the rule?
