Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta

The food had plenty of delicious choices, and I loved the complimentary traditional costume photo experience. It was a thoughtful touch. Jessica at reception was especially warm and welcoming, and even remembered my name on my last day, which felt personal and sincere. The rest of the staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and caring too. I spent four memorable days at Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta. The resort is beautiful, spacious, very clean, and peaceful, with a relaxing atmosphere that felt like a real escape. It exceeded my expectations, and I'd gladly return.

We had a fantastic stay at Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta and would definitely come back. Breakfast was great, with lots of different food, and the service there was also excellent. The newer rooms were flawless, with a comfortable bed and the amenities we needed. One friend wasn't feeling well and spent a whole day in the room, which I think he enjoyed. The grounds are large, and you can borrow bicycles for free to get around, though the route has some challenging climbs and slopes. There are activities on the property too. We tried archery and afternoon yoga, and the pool is big, with a long slide. I missed the sauna and the hot and cold plunge pools, but my friend said they're an experience as well. Check-in through departure went smoothly, with nothing negative to say about Hyatt. Some areas have vintage charm, though I spotted a few places that could use refurbishment. The gym felt quite small to me.

This was the most expensive hotel of the five we stayed in on our Indonesia trip, ranging from 5-star to 2-star, and also the most horrible. The room was dated, which we were prepared to accept. There was a sewage-like smell at the entrance too, but we excused it because the property was being renovated. Smoking was allowed throughout the hotel. Guests could smoke in Kemangi Bistro's non-smoking areas, Bogeys terrace was entirely a smoking zone, and smoking poolside was allowed. We were told that if we traveled with a baby, we could be happy staying indoors. We weren't told about the CNY dinner, then were told we couldn't eat at Kemangi Bistro, the only indoor non-smoking option. Dinner was served in the lobby instead. It was noisy and went on until 9pm, so we couldn't use our room. We put our baby to sleep in the corridor. We paid 200$ and ended up using the common walkway to get the baby to sleep. The club access was a sham, with no food apart from biscuits and coffee or tea. Our 1-year-old baby wasn't even allowed inside. This place is not family-friendly, and the staff were discriminative.

The complimentary photo session was a lovely extra. The photographer was professional and friendly, helped us feel at ease, and took high-quality pictures that captured our happy moments. The hotel itself was peaceful and elegant, with beautiful gardens and excellent facilities. We found it very family-friendly and relaxing, and the stay exceeded our expectations. We'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfort and a memorable time in Yogyakarta.
