It's a nice place overall, with greenery and a river around it, and I'd love to come back. The room was spacious and clean, though the bathroom could use more cleaning. There are lots of the owner's cats, which is great. They're in their cage, but you can ask an employee if you want to play with them.

The back-to-nature atmosphere and reasonable price were appealing. It's more like a hostel than a hotel, with some rooms having bunk beds and bathrooms inside. The food was delicious, though they only serve Indonesian traditional dishes. My main concern was the many cats there, angora and persia if I'm remembering right. Sometimes the owner lets them play around.

We only had one night at Kampung Labasan while I was in Merapi for the 2019 Volcano Run with my group, but I wished we could've stayed longer. The rooms and bathroom were lovely, and the place felt traditional and comfortable. The staff were nice too.

The service was the bright spot: the owner and waiters were friendly and treated us well. The meal itself was just so-so, and the portions weren't generous. For what we paid, I found it extremely overpriced. We booked a buffet for 14 people at IDR 85K each, nearly IDR 1200K altogether. There was fish in two dishes, oxtail soup, one vegetable dish, cassava soup, fried tofu and tempe, mango chilli sambal, fruit, lotis with sweet spicy sauce, dawet, infused water, and hot tea. The menu looked like fair value alongside the view shown in the e-brochure, so I expected a pleasant Sunday brunch with my family. The setting was a letdown. It was crowded with small homestay buildings, with no fresh air or scenery like the brochure suggested. The backyard was bare, with none of the traditional children's games such as egrang that had been promoted. When I asked, I was told we needed to reserve to play with them. I hadn't expected that for simple toys that could just be kept in the yard. I hope the owner takes a closer look at the value of the product and service and how the business competes, so it can keep going. This is my honest feedback, and I hope it helps improve things.

You can hear water and crickets at night here. It's quiet, cool, and cozy, with a great remote kampung feel. The owner loves cats.
