Feels like home.
The AC was cold, the hot water was hot, and the Wi-Fi was fairly fast. The place is near minimarkets and eateries, but a long way from central Jogja. Drinking water, toiletries, and a towel were provided, though there was only one towel and it was torn at the side. The TV picture wasn't very clear but you could still watch it. The room was dirty, with lots of cockroaches under the bed and in the corners. The blanket looked clean, but the mattress felt dirty and made me feel a bit itchy. The table was dusty, and the floor looked dirty too. The bathroom was awful: dead and live cockroaches, a disgusting smell, a dirty floor with lots of buildup, peeling paint near the door, and a door that looked so grimy I didn't want to touch it. The receptionist seemed indifferent, just handing over the room and key at check-in and taking the key at checkout. Please clean room 10. 😭
The outside was still being built and some repairs were going on. I had to switch rooms because the AC wasn't working, but the place was quiet enough for a weekend break and seems suited to a Yogyakarta vacation. It welcomes international and domestic visitors looking for a change of pace. AC, TV, and Wi-Fi worked well, though the hot water wasn't very good. Cleanliness and comfort still seem to be getting attention.
The room was stuffy and smelled bad, and the service was really poor. There were lots of cockroaches in the bathroom. The soap was just a Detol bar, and although they gave me two toothbrush boxes, both were empty. The guard was always playing online games.
By OYO standards, it's pretty good. Just don't search for the location directly on maps or you'll get lost. Use the directions in the OYO app instead.
