I’m extremely unhappy with how Baba Apien handled my visit. I’d checked by WhatsApp the day before, Monday, 21 December 2025, at 07.40 WIB, and was told the restaurant would be open on 22 December from 07.00-14.00 WIB, even though I wasn’t staying at the hotel. I came from Salatiga with my elderly mother based on that confirmation. When we arrived at 10.30 WIB on Tuesday, 22 December 2025, the restaurant was shut. Staff gave several explanations for things that had happened before I checked whether they were open, which felt misleading and unacceptable. We waited almost an hour with my mother before being offered a very limited menu of nasi goreng and kwetiaw, and during that time we were treated like we were begging for service. The staff member who replied to my message wasn’t there, and neither was the manager. They apologized later, but that didn’t make up for the disappointment or the way the situation was handled. It showed poor service and management, with no real sense of responsibility or hospitality. The whole experience ruined my mood during my visit to Yogya. I wouldn’t recommend Baba Apien and won’t return.

I was happy with the stay, especially the quiet atmosphere, nice staff, pool, and all the spots for Instagram photos. I had room #12, a corner room facing the pool, but didn’t have enough time to swim. The house has a calm, homey Indonesian peranakan feel, and the room was cleaned well. The sheets were old and yellowing, though they weren’t dirty, and the towel was worn, with a torn edge. They provided a toothkit, little soap, hair net, small comb, shampoo and bath soap in bottles, plus two drinks, two slippers, three hangers and a flat screen TV. I only watched the news on it. I skipped breakfast, so I can’t comment on that. The place is on the Kaliurang street branch in northern Jogja, away from the center.

The food brought back memories, especially the opor & lontong cap gomeh, which became my go-to dish there. The rooms were nicely set up, the beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. What I appreciated most was how helpful and warm the staff were when I was going through a stressful time. It felt like staying in a real family home. Omah Njonja Bed & Brasserie is a lovely, simple hotel, and I’d definitely stay again. Wishing you continued success, and thank you to everyone 🙏🙏🙏

The traditional food was tasty, and the price felt worth what you get. It’s a kid-friendly place with a small pool, from 90cm to 150cm deep, and open-air seats where you can smoke or just enjoy the fresh air. The hotel has a quiet, warm setting that isn’t too busy. It’s full of vintage things, so it feels like stepping into the 70s or 80s. Give it a try.

We had a room with two queen beds that could sleep six. It was clean and tidy, and the toilet was clean too, with hot water and enough amenities. The staff were kind and welcomed us around midnight after our flight was delayed. They also brought us plates and spoons at night when we came back with takeaway food. The guest house has a theme, with paintings and old-fashioned items all around. I’d recommend it, though getting there is easier if you have your own car since it isn’t on a main street.
