Satu Kayen Guest House

It was pretty quiet since we were almost the only ones there. The pool was great and everything was clean. Breakfast was simple but okay.

The garden is a big part of the charm here, with plants and trees everywhere, maybe more than 20 kinds. Even though it’s close to busy Kaliurang street, the ethnic style and homey feel make it peaceful. The pool area is lovely and cozy, and the price is really affordable. The staff, though only three or four people, are helpful and keep the garden tidy. Breakfast was just okay.

I’ve stayed here for a few different occasions, from a trip with my little family to a big family gathering for my cousin’s siraman, and most recently a company meeting. The place also has celebration packages, which was handy. The poolside works really well for breakfast and outdoor events, and breakfast itself has always been good. The pool is great too, though it gets noisy and crowded during school holidays. If you’re a light sleeper, avoid a pool view room, since kids may be shouting out there from 6 am. When we felt like staying in, the pottery class was fun, especially for the children. The front desk can also suggest things to do around Jogja, places to visit, and food to try. I’m sure I’ll stay here again on my next trip.

We stayed for two nights and had a pleasant time. It has a nice, calming atmosphere that works well for families, somewhere between a hotel and a homestay. Parking is fairly spacious. The Wi-Fi wasn’t great and could use some improvement, though it wasn’t essential for us. We’re looking forward to coming back.
