Wyndham Garden Yogyakarta

The breakfast was awful, and the shower leaked. The in-room phone didn’t work for the entire stay in any of the rooms I stayed in. Whenever we asked, the answer was “maintenance.” Room service was “maintenance” too. 🤷 They’re trying, but it isn’t enough.

I booked three rooms for four nights, and every one had a bad smell. The toilet seats were loose because the screws weren’t secure, shower hoses leaked, and the towels weren’t up to a 3-star hotel standard. Breakfast had a decent range, but it all tasted bad. Even the INDOMIE GORENG instant noodles were poorly cooked. One staff member gave my Mom and Sister excellent service, Anggita (Anggi) at Sooji Restaurant.

We held a wedding here, and it’s honestly sad because I can see so much potential in this hotel. For a five star property, management needs fixing and the staff need a lot more training. Siapa pun yg buka franchise Wyndham ini, please banget berbenah. 😅

The room was the highlight of my stay at Wyndham Garden Yogyakarta. Ours had direct pool access, two king beds, plenty of space, and was very clean and tidy. The TV, mini fridge, tea maker, bathtub, bathrobe, sofa, and pool towels all looked new and worked well. The grounds are spacious, with lovely gardens. We enjoyed the pool and kids’ playground, and dinner at Sooji had a good selection at reasonable prices, nice garden views through the glass walls, tasty food, and decent service. Breakfast at the other restaurant across from our room was satisfying too. Parking right in front of the room after check-in was convenient. The hotel is in Sleman near Sleman Hospital, on the road toward Borobudur, so it’s a bit far from Yogyakarta city center. From outside, it looks like a row of shop houses, and the property is combined with Ramada Hotel. Wyndham is farther inside, while Ramada’s rooms are at the front. The lobby is shared and quite small, so I was confused at first. Staff handled check-in quickly, but the route from there to the rooms could be clearer for new guests. There’s a map near reception, but you have to ask for it, since staff tend to stay quiet unless approached. Management could improve the signs and staff training. A useful arrival tip: check in at the corner building beside Sooji Restaurant, then drive over to your room with your luggage and group. Ask reception where your room is to avoid confusion. It was a pleasant stay, and clearer directions and communication would make the experience even better.
