Amaris Hotel Serpong - Tangerang

I’ve had decent stays at other Amaris locations for a budget hotel, but this one was a big letdown. I was only accompanying a friend, who was traveling alone, when he checked in on October 15, 2024. I’d suggested the hotel because it was close to travel hubs. The concierge giggled and made assumptions, which felt unprofessional. I understand how a woman dropping off a man late at night might lead to a misunderstanding, but the staff should still act professionally. My friend had booked a non-smoking room, yet the room and hallways smelled strongly of cigarettes. There was a phone in the room, but staff used a master key to go in and ask whether he was checking out. It happened once while he was showering, before the 12 pm checkout time. That left me with serious concerns about privacy and safety. Amaris needs to address this so guests can feel secure. I hope the matter is taken seriously and resolved.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the housekeeper was really kind. There’s a dispenser by the lift, so we didn’t have to buy mineral water. It’s mostly quiet, though you can hear high-speed traffic in the morning. Service was good too.

The staff were quick, energetic, and helpful. The hotel itself is a pretty standard budget place, though the facilities and cleanliness don’t seem well maintained. My room needed repairs, there was a cigar butt in a non-smoking area, and the hot water came and went when I needed it.

The front desk staff were friendly, helpful, and quick, which is good for a budget chain. But cleanliness and facilities were poor enough that I’d give them one or two stars. There was dust everywhere, the room was dirty, the bathroom wasn’t clean to standard, and the amenities were very limited. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who cares more about cleanliness than service.
