The fountain kept us awake all night, and the facade lights shone through the blinds and curtains. We’d also paid around 1,000,000 IDR for an extra bed, but it was only a thin mattress 30-40 cm high on the floor. There was no towel or toothbrush for that guest, so maybe we were meant to ask separately. The reusable slippers felt unpleasant, too. We stayed one night. After seeing the Junior Suite, we paid extra to change to the S2 room. The room was dusty with the sort of household dust that looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned for a while, and everything seemed worn and in need of renovation. The place felt more like a countryside house than a 4-star hotel.

The room and bathroom were nice, which is why I gave it one star. The plunge pool was freezing and useless, and breakfast was awful, cold all the way down to the coffee. The staff were so bad: annoying teenage boys with horrible communication and really bad, weird energy.

After a long hike, it was nice to come back to a comfortable room and bed, with Netflix to watch if we were tired. The setting is peaceful and close to various hikes. The staff were friendly and capable, and the pizza was surprisingly good. Breakfast was delicious, too.

Dinner was a highlight at Munduk Tentrem. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavour, and was put together beautifully. The staff were welcoming and kind, always greeting us with a smile. The views were incredible, with mountains and that kind of light that makes you stop and take it all in. It felt peaceful as soon as we arrived, quiet and calm, surrounded by nature. We really enjoyed our stay.
