The people made a big difference during our two weeks at Swaha Hotel Ubud. Wayan, the owner, met us at the airport, a thoughtful personal touch. Staff were warm, respectful, and caring throughout. They changed the sheets, pillowcases, and towels daily. We also appreciated the reliable, affordable airport transport and the laundry service, especially with kids. A microwave oven and portable butane cooker let us heat food and make simple meals. Breakfast was available on request. Our family room was spacious and comfortable, though it showed its age. Paint was starting to peel from the ceiling, but nothing had fallen off. The bathroom worked, but needed a deep clean and resealing in some spots. The shower had excellent hot water if you turned the dial all the way. Batubulan is a quiet local area known for Batik-making and traditional Balinese dance performances, including the famous fire dance. Bali Bird Park and Bali Zoo are conveniently close, and Ubud is a short drive away, so it worked well as a base for nearby attractions and the region's cultural and scenic spots, with a more peaceful, local feel. We liked the Balinese detail in the pool, with a stream of water flowing into it like the holy water at Tirta Empul. We could hear the gentle water from our room at night, which added to the calm. We'd absolutely return despite the bathroom cleanliness and linen needing improvement. The welcoming people, authentic local atmosphere, and peaceful vibe made it a calm, affordable, heartfelt stay for our family. With a little more attention to cleanliness and maintenance, the place could really shine.

The food is delicious, and the rooms are very well cared for. The owner and staff are helpful and know a lot about Bali, offering ideas for things to do each day. They can also stock items if you ask. It can be hard to find the hotel since it's down a small alley.

It's especially nice for honeymooners because it's so quiet, and the food is delicious. The room has a mini kitchen, so you can cook too. The staff and owner are very polite. The hotel is away from the city, but they have a motorcycle and van for getting around, plus free shuttle rides to the market and some selected places. I'd really recommend it.
