Umah Geoks

The room was clean, smelled nice, had a blanket, and was cleaned every day. They made sure I was as comfortable as possible, and for less than most, if not all, homestays in Bali, I got a double bed, AC, and hot water. Best deal I found in Indonesia. This is a very special place, part of the home of a famous Bali art master. The buildings are decorated beautifully, and there’s a theatre right beside the house where performances are held. I was lucky enough to see two of them, filmed for a documentary about the master’s life and art. The guest house manager is the master’s grandson. He speaks really good English and can tell you about Balinese history and culture. The master speaks English well too, and if you’re lucky and he’s around, you can learn directly from him. I don’t understand the review bombing below. Those people all seem to have just one Google review, apparently to damage the place’s reputation. It looks like they stayed at the same time, if they stayed at all. It’s childish, if not cruel. If you didn’t like your stay, why call all your friends to hurt the business instead of writing one review? Such insensitive, cruel behavior. I had a great stay. Don’t listen to them. If you want to experience the true Bali and learn about its culture, art, and history while staying with a welcoming family, choose umah Geoks!

The location is away from the city center, so it was quiet and easy to sleep. Shops aren’t within walking distance, so for a longer stay I’d recommend renting a scooter. The room was very affordable, a real hidden gem. We spent four days at Umah Geoks and were very happy with everything. The recently renovated rooms were spacious and very clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly and always there to help. Wi-Fi worked perfectly, every room has AC, and the bathroom had hot and cold water. There’s a water dispenser in the downstairs common area, with a shared fridge beside it. I highly recommend this place if you want somewhere peaceful at a great price.

Lovely owners and spacious, very nice rooms. It’s a great place to stay, quiet and away from the main road. Highly recommended!
