You’re staying right inside the national park, surrounded by all the local wildlife and plants. It’s a quiet, restorative place that still feels comfortable, and the holiday was a memorable way to experience something different. The property respects and preserves the habitat. Running a business in such a setting must be extraordinarily challenging, but the whole staff made sure we had everything we needed.

Walking straight from the room to the ocean for a snorkel was a highlight. I loved being in the water among the colorful fish. The peaceful national park setting is what makes this Waka group property special, with deer around and black monkeys munching leaves in the trees. I’ve stayed at other Waka group hotels and have always been impressed by the service, quality, and staff knowledge. It was a treat to find such good food and top-notch service in a fairly remote spot. A secluded bit of luxury in the jungle, far from Bali island’s crowds and bustle.

Snorkeling from the beach was so easy, and we saw loads of pretty fish and coral, plus even a small shark. It was almost empty and really relaxing, with good service. Such a romantic place. We had our best week here and wished we’d spent the whole vacation here. We’d go back to Bali just to stay again.

This is comfortable accommodation with sensible design, set inside a wildlife sanctuary. It’s not a high-end resort, but the charm is still there, and the staff are amazing. We fell in love with the place 20 years ago, and came back this time with our 10-year-old son. The name and management have changed, and there have been lots of improvements, but it still feels much the same. We repeated the activities we did back then, now with our son, which made them even more special: snorkeling the house reef, scuba diving off the jetty and at Menjangan island, kayaking, trekking, cycling, and looking for the resident deer, black and grey monkeys, and birds. It’s a long drive to the harbor and the place is secluded, but that’s the point if you want to get away from it all. For a distinctive Bali setting with lots of outdoor activities, this is the place for us. We’ll be back soon.
