The biggest issue for me was how the late checkout was handled. A male receptionist had confirmed I could stay until 1:00 pm, but around 12:15, after I’d returned to my room, a female staff member called to ask about checkout and said late checkout wasn’t available. When I told her I’d already checked with someone else, she asked, “Which staff was it, Sir?” It felt like I was being asked to sort out a communication problem between employees. In the end, I could stay only until 12:45, and the mixed messages left me feeling undervalued. I picked Bonnet Hotel Surabaya for its convenient location, which was a plus. The room came with just one bottle of mineral water, though, and I skipped breakfast because the selection seemed standard and didn’t appeal much. I understand late checkout can depend on availability, but the staff’s inconsistent information and the way they dealt with it made the stay disappointing. Clearer communication and a more hospitable approach would make a difference. This experience has made me reconsider returning.

There’s plenty of good food for sale nearby, with lots of different options. The room was clean, the service was okay, and the location worked well for finding meals.

The location made things easy: there’s a supermarket close by and plenty of familiar places to eat. We stayed as a family for three days, but the rooms were smaller than we expected and breakfast was only okay. Noise from karaoke or events on the first floor around lunchtime was the main problem. It interrupted us and made it difficult to relax.

There’s no shortage of places to eat, and the hotel sits above a well-known supermarket in a prime location. Inside, it’s surprisingly spacious despite the exterior. A comfortable spot to sleep if you don’t want to worry about finding food.

It’s a shame, because the hotel has a lot of potential in such a convenient location, but management seems poor. The partitions are so thin you can hear the next room clearly. The bathroom drain is always slow, so the water runs away too slowly to enjoy a shower. And the cleaner won’t change the sheets no matter how dirty they get.
