Dhanesvara Holistic Unique Homestay

The beds were good and the rooms nice, and the ambiance and furniture were okay. But the hospitality felt much better at all the cheaper homestays I've stayed in. The employees didn't speak English very well, even by Asian standards. They asked the day before what time we'd like breakfast, 7, 8, or 9am. When we came down at 09:05, it was cold. They weren't very flexible.

The place is calm and quiet, and feels different from other homestays. Each room has its own unique style, no two are the same. Breakfast was a little salty, but that was okay for me.

I spent a night here on New Year's Eve 2019. The restaurant was closed that night, so I didn't get to try the food. The rate starts at $25 or IDR 350,000++. I stayed in the Eucalita Suite Room, which can accommodate 3 people with one king size bed and one single bed. The homestay is inside a residential complex, quiet and about 500meters from the main road. It had a calm, holistic feel in the middle of Surabaya, with an artistic mix of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Balinese influences, including lots of statues. You can also buy gifts there, mostly bracelets and books on yoga and holistic care. They didn't provide toiletries such as a toothbrush or toothpaste, so it's better to bring your own before check-in. They do sell them in the lobby.

The family room fits five and even has a dining area, and the airport is about 15 minutes away. I’ve stayed here twice already. It’s clean, quiet, reasonably priced, and the staff are nice. When I’m in Surabaya, this is my first choice.
