The staff were incredibly friendly. They helped arrange my Bromo and Ijen tour and checked on me when I was coughing to see if I felt ill or needed anything. I’d mistakenly thought I’d booked a shared room, but it turned out to be private, and it was nice. Mine didn’t get much natural light, though it was a good place to rest before visiting the two volcanoes. There are vegetarian choices at breakfast. The bathroom looked older, but there was hot water, plus a nice towel and soap and shampoo. Thanks for the stay! I paid for two nights even though I only slept there one night, since the Bromo pickup was at midnight.

After researching and trying other places, I found this was probably the only genuinely high-quality budget stay near central Surabaya. The staff were excellent. Rubi was especially friendly and professional, and speaks great English.

I spent one night in the shared room and found it good. The A/C was nice, and probably necessary. Each bed has a lockable cabinet big enough for a small, carry-on-sized bag and a bit more. The bathroom isn’t the nicest, but it’s available. When it was occupied, staff offered another bathroom elsewhere in the house. I felt safe there, with sturdy doors and residents who were considerate of each other. The staff were very helpful with requests and recommendations. The place isn’t especially close to the train station or airport, but Grab was affordable for me. The nearest train station cost about 20k Rp to reach. Breakfast is available for an additional 25k Rp, and seemed quite substantial. I chose the "local food" option, which they bought shortly before my breakfast time.
