Kouzui Homestay

If you care about your health, basic hygiene, or peace of mind, find a decent hotel or sleep in your car. This place is one to avoid. It's an unforgettable experience, though, if you're writing a survival horror script. The pods have cold walls, with floor mats provided to soften them. Exposed dangling wires add to the condemned cabin atmosphere. In the toilet, a leak turns it into a toilet and bidet in one germ-ridden setup. The shower is basically a larger bidet, spraying you in a room that seems meant for something else. I'm surprised a booking doesn't come with a free tetanus shot.

The price matches the quality. The place is clean and the Wi-Fi works well, but I didn't feel very comfortable otherwise. The host comes and goes without knocking and can be unfriendly when greeting new guests. Maybe I'm just not very sociable, so it felt like a bit of a culture shock, haha. Thanks, anyway, though I should've picked another homestay. If you're staying here, eating out may be more comfortable. The dining table is in the living room, where the host is usually around.

The bathroom was already muddy and dirty when we arrived, with a pile of trash that hadn't been taken out. Even so, the guard kept coming in and commenting, calling us dirty. The room was still being cleaned and wasn't clean yet, but the lights were switched off at 7:40 p.m. Service and friendliness were both way below par. Anyone giving this place three stars or more probably hasn't actually stayed here. To the inn, especially the guard, if you don't want guests, stop taking them or remove the listing from Google Maps so people don't come. And if you're thinking of booking, think twice.

It felt like being at home, with a pleasant living room that has a sofa, TV, and water dispenser. The room and bed are both spacious, and the bathroom has hot water. It's also close to Gubeng Station.
