Mercure Surabaya Manyar

We spent 2 nights in the Executive Duplex Suite. The hotel is fairly small, but its location is great, with lots of restaurants along the street and everything convenient. Parking is limited, though the free valet meant that wasn't a problem. The cleanliness was excellent. Every corner was spotless, and I even saw housekeeping wipe the stairs inside the room by hand. I got good sleep here, thanks to the comfortable beds and soft pillows. Mercure Manyar is also in a strategic location, close to Galaxy Mall, Dr. Soetomo General Hospital, and Airlangga University. I spent a lot of time at Airlangga University Hospital. For work, it's a neat, modern, straightforward choice if you want comfortable sleep, easy access to the campus, hospital, and mall areas, and a gym to keep up your routine. In terms of amenities, it's a compact modern business hotel. Accor's official website lists 90 rooms and suites, from Superior to Executive Duplex, plus an all-day dining restaurant, lobby bar, meeting rooms, and a gym. Room features include a 50-inch HD TV, Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, rain shower, and safe.

I got upgraded to a duplex because I'm an accor member, and the rooms are very nice. The service was great too. Shout out to Denny at reception and the whole security squad, since I was going in and out like lightning. Getting to the galaxy mall area is probably the one small location issue, because you have to take a U-turn a bit farther away. Regards, Chesley.

Nova and Faisal went the extra mile to get me low glycaemic meals, and the breakfast spread was good. The Indonesian touch made this a very pleasant stay and helped me overlook a few minor irritants. Mercure Manyar is called a business hotel, but it may be more family friendly. I found the executive room layout unsuitable for work: the bedroom is upstairs and the sitting room downstairs, with nowhere to set up a laptop. Shiva at the front desk kindly let me move to a regular room, but its work table was at the wrong angle for using the TV as a second monitor. There's no bar to relax in after work. Since this is Surabaya, there are plenty of nearby bars serving delicious pork dishes and overpriced drinks, for example Our bar, Dining Club ... For context, I'd just left Novotel Platinum Bangkok, which left a very bad taste in my mouth. Unlike Mercure Surabaya Manyar, I'll definitely skip Novotel Platinum next time I'm in Bangkok in about a month's time.
