The room in the pictures shows what I was dealing with. I asked three times to have it cleaned, and the staff still seemed to have no standards for keeping the place clean. OYO offered a refund after I sent them the photos, but I’ve never received the money, even after waiting more than six months. Their customer service has been awful, and they don’t refund you when you have a problem. This was the worst experience I’ve had with OYO, and I regret staying there. If you’re reading this, don’t use OYO.

The place was a little hard to spot, tucked away across from a church, but it’s near the mall and city center with lots of food stalls around. There’s a large pool in the view, which might be why it’s called “riverside,” since it seems to be by a river. For about 100,000 Rupiah, it was okay: the room was fairly spacious, like a new boarding house, with a sitting area and its own bathroom. I was nervous at first because the gate was locked when I arrived, though it turned out to be open. Some reviews said it was locked at night. Bring 100,000 Rupiah for the deposit and your ID card. The hotel doesn’t provide toiletries, towels, or slippers. The cleanliness needs work. When I arrived yesterday, a cat was living there and had left droppings on the floor. The contact person for the homestay should also be reachable, since I couldn’t get through to the number listed on OYO. And if there’s a curfew, guests should be told at check-in.
