I regret booking here. The noise is overwhelming, with children brought in without any restrictions. I’m in the room trying to do an interview, but the noise from the kids is making it impossible to finish in peace.

The bed was comfortable, and the woman running the place was sweet, though she couldn’t speak English or answer questions and requests. The hotel is some distance from shops and restaurants, and I think this basic accommodation is aimed more at local guests than tourists. Some details on booking.com didn’t match what happened. It said prepayment would be taken the day before arrival and that only credit cards were accepted, but I’d just arrived from the airport late in a Grab taxi and had no cash. It was hard to explain the mismatch. Fortunately, an Indonesian guest translated and directed me to an ATM. Breakfast arrived in my room at 7am, and I couldn’t change the time. It was a typical Indonesian breakfast, with no hot or cold drinks, including coffee. There was no toilet paper in the otherwise alright bathroom. Light from the corridor came through a window above the room door, so a curtain would help.
