West Surabaya Homey (Syariah)

The location makes getting food easy for anyone on a budget. Just outside the WSH alley there are plenty of tasty, affordable options, and WSH Homestay could be a good fit for budget travelers. I hope things are in better shape if I visit WSH on my next trip to Surabaya. A few things need attention, though. The bathroom was dirty, with lots of trash on the soap rack, and the route upstairs through the kitchen was very grimy. The sheets didn't look like they had been changed after the previous guest. They smelled bad and made me itchy. The owner wasn't very smiley or friendly either. I wouldn't recommend the homestay for people arriving by car. There's no parking, and the entrance is narrow. For someone like me, just an ordinary person, this is the better option and worth the price. One thing, though: the plug needs fixing.

I wouldn't recommend it at all. The room was filthy and dusty, with cobwebs everywhere, and the pillowcases smelled musty. Nobody was friendly, from the staff to the cleaning crew.

There's a nice outdoor spot by the balcony to sit and hang out, and the air feels pleasant. The boarding house is in a handy location near food stalls, Indomart, and food vendors. Inside, it has AC, a TV, a bed, an outdoor bathroom, and parking within the property. The caretaker is nice too. There are lots of mosquitoes, though, so it's best to shut the door at night.
