Kusuma Sahid Prince Hotel

The city center location is exceptional, right beside the night market, and I had a great two-night stay. There’s a beautiful lobby, historical artifacts on display and an amazing pool for workouts. The rooms could use a refresh, though. My bed covers had holes and stains, and there was just one power outlet by the desk. It only worked when the lights were on, so I couldn’t charge anything overnight.

We had a good family stay, and the walkable location was a real plus. Pasar Gede, the Keraton/Palace, cafes, coffee shops and places to eat are all nearby. For a budget-friendly price, the experience was much better than I’d expect from a two- or three-star hotel. It must have been beautiful and luxurious in its heyday, with a magical look inside and out. The lobby especially stands out, decorated in lovely traditional Javanese style. The room cleanliness could be improved, though.

The attached restaurant is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the service is much better than at the overpriced resto of Pura Mangkunegaran. The hotel itself is really the best place to stay and eat in Solo! The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, with loads of atmosphere since they’re part of a royal residence.

I spent 5 days at Kusuma Sahid Prince Hotel. The traditional atmosphere and overall vibe were fantastic, and the facilities covered the basics. Staff were friendly, attentive and very hospitable. My room, though, had a strong stale, humid smell, like it hadn’t been occupied for a long time, and I found a cockroach there. Better maintenance and cleaning would make a big difference.
