Mandala Wisata Hotel

I booked a room for my dad while he was visiting me in Solo, but it still wasn’t ready at 13.00 pm. When I asked about extending the stay until 18 pm the following day, the receptionist told me it would cost 100K. The next day, another receptionist said I had to book again through the app and pay more than 100K. I can’t tell whether they were trying to scam me or just hadn’t communicated with each other. The WiFi was really poor, and the room was also dirty. There were lots of stains and dirt in both the bedroom and toilet, and I didn’t want to open the curtain because of the thick dust.

The room felt homely and spacious, and the hotel looked very green. Purwosari train station is only a five-minute walk away, with Jalan Slamet Riyadi nearby for plenty of food options like nasi liwet, gudheg, and wedhangan. There’s also car free day on Sunday morning. The toilet was the main letdown: it wasn’t very clean, the fixtures were old, and there was no hot water. Still, it was okay overall.

The room was spacious and the bathroom had plenty of room, and I liked the city-center location, private parking for cars and bikes, quick check-in and checkout, and all the greenery. The basic facilities were okay. The TV was great, with lots of English and local channels, but the WiFi was slow and the light behind the bed didn’t work. What bothered me most was cleanliness. The walls were dirty, with spider webs and ants everywhere. The mattress was thick but old, the sheet was very thin and worn, and the blanket smelled old. I booked because the reviews were good, and I can accept an old hotel, but the lack of cleanliness was a big issue for me. I’m really not satisfied and won’t come back because of it.

The staff were friendly, but the room and bathroom were dirty, and so were the sheets. There was a strong smell of smoke as well. For a budget hotel, the price felt quite high, so I wouldn’t really recommend it.
