The pool is lovely, the walkway down to the water is beautiful, and the staff are incredibly kind. But two things made both of my recent stays, nearly two weeks in total, very stressful. The smoke was constant in the hallways and shared spaces. As a Canadian raised away from cigarette smoke, I found that really difficult. Smokers seemed to get the best poolside and restaurant spots with the views, while non-smokers were pushed to the back. People flicked cigarette butts into the water or dropped them where children play. It was a real shame to see people acting like pigs, and management needs to hold smokers accountable for everyone’s health. Leaving the property was stressful too. McDonald’s and local shops are only a 10-15 minute walk away, but every time we passed the soccer field, a gang of kids yelled “Bule” (white foreigner) and demanded money. It happened daily, not just once, and felt intimidating when they started circling us on the road. I have video footage of it happening repeatedly. It’s a beautiful resort, but the constant smoke and targeted harassment outside made for a very difficult stay. I hope management takes these “Traveler’s Truths” seriously. — The Traveler’s Truth with Mag🎋

The pool was a nice feature, although it needed better upkeep, and the shared areas could use more care to match the property’s potential. Service was mostly friendly, but there were some delays at check-in and with housekeeping. Breakfast was very basic, with little variety and average taste. It would do for a short stay, but wasn’t memorable. The main draw is the location near the coast, with beach access and lovely sunset views. It’s also fairly close to the ferry terminal, which is handy for a brief visit. My room was modest but clean, with simple furniture, air conditioning, and hot water. The interior felt dated and could use renovation; the bed was decent, while the pillows and linens could be better. It’s a fair budget option if location matters more than luxury. With updates, Bintan Beach Resort Hotel could make a much more appealing seaside retreat.

Terrible hotel. The beds and sofas were ripped and broken, the food was poor, and there was no lift. Staff had poor English, and there was no coffee or kettle. Breakfast only had 2 items. The grass was brown, the buggies were broken, and the park fittings looked 30 years old, rusty and broken.

I was looking for a quiet place for a one-night business trip to Tanjung Pinang, after previously staying at a “stars” hotel downtown. I found this one through the link on its Instagram, @karyawanbbrhotel. It was very affordable, so I was skeptical at first, but I was impressed when I arrived. The grounds are spacious, the view is beautiful, and in the morning I could enjoy the scenery and sea breeze. The room was roomy, and the swimming pool was large. Breakfast was average for the price, though the food tasted quite good, and the staff were friendly. Highly recommended!

I was very disappointed with the hotel’s handling of a serious privacy and safety concern. I booked Room 121 on 3 April 2025, and the hotel has my details. At 4 PM I asked for a jug of hot water, then went out and returned at 9 PM. My belongings were still in the room, but housekeeping had entered without my permission. I asked reception who had gone in. The receptionist called the staff member, and I was able to ask why he entered. His name was “ FAIRI ”, and he had worked in housekeeping for over 2 years. He said he had only taken the jug of hot water and hadn’t touched anything else. The receptionist told me it was forbidden to enter without the guest’s permission. I told them both I felt very uncomfortable and scared. Anyone being able to enter my room without permission made me worry I’d need to check my belongings, and wonder what if someone put something in the room without my knowledge or took something. “ FAIRI ” only said sorry, and the receptionist also just apologized. There was no other action, despite my telling reception, and I hope the owner or manager takes guest safety seriously. The hotel should not enter my room without permission while it is still booked, even when I’m out.
