Medana Resort

We really recommend this place. The garden is fabulous and so well maintained, and the rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. It was so relaxing to lie by the pool or read a book. The food was amazing, the best dinner we’ve had so far on our trip. The staff were very friendly, there was a barman who made great cocktails, and there were some nice dogs too.

The resort is within walking distance of the beach, but it isn’t clearly marked, so you’ll need Google Maps to find the way. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated with Indonesian furniture. The pool often had a film of bugs and debris floating on top, and the staff seemed to struggle to keep up with it. Meals took well over 2 hours every time we ate there during our three-night stay. For some reason the food wasn’t prepared ahead, and each order took an hour or two to arrive, so don’t eat there if you’re in a rush. The staff were friendly, but sometimes hard to find. I’m not sure what was going on.

The grounds were green, peaceful, quiet, and very well maintained. The pool and other facilities were lovely, and the bungalow was spacious, comfortable, and traditionally furnished. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower and bath. We stayed for three nights, and since we were the only guests at the time, it felt a little dystopian now and then. Even so, we’d never had the luxury of a private resort before. We ate at the resort twice and really enjoyed the food. The staff were warm, helpful, and hospitable. We rented a scooter there to get around and visit beaches and waterfalls. We’d definitely come back. We also loved Sasa (the dog), and thanks for dropping us off at the ferry.

After a long hike on Rinjani mount, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to rest. The bathtub was great for soaking in hot water after hiking for 3 days, and the room was spacious, very clean, and beautifully organized. Orig, the owner's son, was really friendly and helpful. He even took me on his bike to a local restaurant for dinner. I had a super comfortable night there, and only wish I could have stayed longer.
