The location is good, but the facilities are too old. At the restaurant I tried to pay my 23k tea bill with a debit card, but a staff member said I had to pay cash or settle it at reception. He’d first said I could pay the next day since I’d left a 50k deposit at check-in, so I went back to my room to rest. Then at 23.15 he knocked on my door about the bill. If he’d made a mistake telling me I could defer payment, why come knocking at that hour?

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and they even let me check in early. The location is convenient for getting around and finding food, and I was satisfied with the service. The one thing they should address is the view of the dirty river, which was pretty disgusting whenever I opened the window.

We arrived in Tegal around 10 pm after setting out from Jogja for Jakarta on a road trip, five days after Lebaran. Other hotels were either full or too expensive, as you’d expect during Lebaran, so we had few options. We picked this one for a night because the price seemed reasonable and it sits right on the Pantura highway, which was exactly what we needed. The room was okay, the bathroom was fairly spacious, and the hot water worked really well. We thought the breakfast was better than at most hotels we’d visited before. WiFi was slow, but that didn’t bother us since we just wanted to relax before carrying on. Maybe it would cost less outside Lebaran. The hotel was okay, but still felt too pricey.

The location right by the main road made this a handy place to stop while driving from Central Java to Jakarta. We had enough space for our family and two kids, but the building feels old, the bathroom smelled unpleasant, and the room rate seemed high. Breakfast had very few options.
