Ue datu Cottages

It was lovely and very quiet, with just one shy rooster instead of the usual dozen. Breakfast was good, and the common area felt comfortable and authentic. We paid 260k a night for a double ensuite without AC, which felt a bit expensive. The bedroom floor was greasy and not very clean. We also found mouse droppings on it. Given the lakeside countryside location, that may be part of being in nature, but be aware. The toilet could use a door or another curtain to separate it from the bedroom. It's a little way from everything, so you'll need a scooter to get around. You can rent one at the cottage; ours cost 80k a day, which isn't cheap. Staff spoke only basic English, if any, but did their best to understand and help. It was worth making the effort to learn a little Indonesian in return. 😜

The cottages are small but comfortable, and the place was very clean. They also handled our late check-in well, and the hot shower was nice. The location is good, but the karaoke was so loud I couldn't sleep. Were the speakers right beside the cottage? It's a lovely place, so that was really disappointing.

Kim was friendly and so helpful. Within minutes of arriving, we had a room and a plan for getting to Palu the next day. The setting was beautiful and calm, with cold beer available. After a long time without seeing rooms this clean, it was a treat: spotless sheets and towels, mosquito nets, comfy beds and pillows, and showers with hot water and great pressure. Such a quiet, peaceful place to stay. Thank you, Kim!
