Tetebatu Garden Bungalow

The rooms are pretty much what you'd expect from the way the place looks. I stayed three nights and didn't mind sharing the space with a few critters. The boys there were a great bunch and took care of whatever I needed. Stay here and you'll have a new family. Muhammad Ali was born and raised in the area, and getting a tour with him would be an experience of a lifetime.

The bungalows are lovely, and the area is so peaceful. The people running the place were some of the most genuinely friendly I've met on my travels. If I'd known how much I'd like it, I would've planned a few more days here.

We were disappointed. We had booked Second Home bungalows but ended up at Sama Sama bungalows. I still don't know if that was where we were meant to stay or if they're actually the same place. The bungalow was dirty, and it was obvious the sheets hadn't been changed. It was poorly maintained: the doors wouldn't shut properly, and the bathroom door was the only one you could use open. The shower head looked either very dirty or damaged, so showering wasn't really an option. Water leaked from the tap and kept the bathroom floor wet, and there was a moldy smell even in the bed. The team were nice, but kept pushing activities that were really expensive. We only booked a driver. The price was okay, but the car was awful, really old and with no seat belt, for the same price as a newer, air-conditioned car we'd had with another driver previously. The food honestly wasn't good either, though there are lots of warungs within walking distance.

We only stopped by the bar for drinks during our two nights in Tetebatu, and I'd definitely recommend it. The staff are awesome. Can't wait to come back!
