Tanaka Canggu Guesthouse

The room they gave me was the noisiest I've ever stayed in, even though I'd booked a deluxe room and specifically asked for somewhere quiet. I asked to switch rooms or get a refund for the unused nights so I could find another hotel, but they just said “NO”. They didn't speak much English, and then someone told me, “I'm lawyer, call police” when I made the request. So rude, with no hospitality at all. I eventually moved to another hotel and got no refund. They kept my money and treated me badly. In their reply, they said they had offered another room, but it was just as noisy and also next to a busy road. I think they saw it as simply changing rooms. The manager, an older woman, was rude too, and her reply shows what she's like. This isn't any kind of privacy. If you work in hospitality, you shouldn't lie to customers, disrespect them, or say things that make them uncomfortable. You should just do your job. That's my opinion.

The hotel was clean and the facilities were nice, but it was very loud because it's on a main road. If you're a light sleeper, don't stay here. I paid for eight nights and only managed two. When I asked to change rooms or get a partial refund, the staff refused even a partial refund and said nothing could be done. The hotel doesn't say in its advertising that it's on a main road, which I found very deceptive.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and the pool was clean. I liked the room too. It wasn't really loud, though the road right outside the window meant it wasn't completely quiet either. There are nice cafés and restaurants a short walk away, and it's about 15 minutes on foot to the beach and beach clubs. The hotel is right by a main road.

Such a beautiful place in a great spot. The staff were really friendly and helpful too.
