Bubu Homestay Tulamben

The room was generally clean and came with towels, soap and shampoo. The bathroom had hot water, too. I stayed here because it was convenient for diving at diving concepts. Some things could be better: the toothbrush and toothpaste were low quality, the AC fan was a bit noisy, and the blanket was so thin I used bath towels for extra cover. The connected restaurant had lots of flies around the dining area, which was annoying. I hope they add UV lights to deal with them. If you want a cleaner stay, another nearby villa may be a better choice.

Mt Agung looks great from here, and the service was good. The rooms and toilets were clean, the restaurant was great, and the staff at both the hotel and Dive Concept were friendly. The one downside was that the room didn’t get cold.

The pool is huge, and taking a swim at night was so much fun. We stayed one night in a villa with a sofa, though we didn’t use it, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. It’s a lovely new place in a great location, with fantastic, welcoming staff. Parking was a bit difficult, though that may have been because it was peak season. Small things: there’s no TV in the lounge, and for the price, a coffee or tea kettle in the room would be nice.

Having DiveConcept right next door makes this a handy place to stay for a diving course. We took lessons with Dive Concepts Tulamben, and the connected Bubu Homestay felt comfortable, cozy and clean. The staff were all super friendly. I did wish there was a kettle: hot water dispensers were available, but we needed one to prepare food for our baby. The staff arranged for us to wash the baby bottles at the nearby restaurant café, and everyone was extremely kind. The layout is comfortable, with a manageable number of rooms and people, plenty of space, a cozy pool and shared areas. I’d recommend it, especially if you’re taking a course with DiveConcept.
