3 Beagles Ubud

We stayed almost three weeks, and the hotel was nearly empty the entire time. Looking back, that should have been a warning. At first the room and location seemed fine, and the staff were polite, but my experience with the owner was frightening. We had booked for 2.5 weeks and never got the advertised extras, including a free massage or scooter rental, supposedly included for stays over 3 days. Later I had directly extended our stay with the owner by two nights, outside the booking portal. My wife then needed to be hospitalized, so we had to check out one day early. The owner showed no understanding, screamed at me, demanded payment for the unused night, and threatened to call the police. He came across as aggressive and unstable. Nobody should have to be treated this way. I don't think he should be running a hospitality business, and for your safety and peace of mind, I'd avoid this place.

The shared area had plenty of room for meals and relaxing, and felt really cozy. We also enjoyed the pool for a quick dip in the heat. After busy days around Ubud, the villa was a private, relaxing place to come back to, with great views. My family and I spent a week at 3 Beagles Villa in early July this year. The staff were very friendly and hospitable throughout. We rented a car, which is difficult in Bali, but I'd recommend using a scooter to get around. I'd absolutely stay here again on my next trip to Bali.

The reception girls were nice, and the surroundings are peaceful, but I can't recommend this place overall. The room looked okay at first, yet the details were a problem: hair from previous guests, dirty textiles, a dirty bedroom mirror, and a broken bathroom drying rack that fell on my head when I tried to open it. The host didn't apologize or take responsibility. They tried to convince me the hair was mine even though I saw it as soon as I checked in, and said my standards were too high and the room was fine. It took 20 hours and four conversations before someone came to remove the hair. I found the host unwelcoming, dishonest several times, and using inappropriate language. I had booked with an Airbnb voucher, and because used vouchers can't be returned, I couldn't get it back and leave for somewhere else. Airbnb did provide support and compensation. If you still choose to book, I'd suggest doing it through Airbnb rather than directly, since they can have your back. I wouldn't risk booking with this host.

We had to find somewhere at the last minute after another place let us down, and Kevin and the 3 beagles team were great, flexible, friendly, and fun. The villa is between Ubud centre and places like waterfalls and temples, so the location worked well for sightseeing. It's too far to walk into the centre, but the staff arranged a scooter rental for us. We recommend staying here.
