Kapu Kapu Ubud

Kap u kapu was a lovely quiet spot in the rice fields, away from the busy, noisy streets. It’s a bit far from the city center, so you’ll need a scooter, but I liked being out of the hustle. The staff were great and cleaned our room each morning, changed the towels, and left fresh water bottles every day. We had delicious banana pancakes, proper pancakes rather than crepes. We asked for fresh juice instead of coffee or tea and got wonderful banana and pineapple juices. The shower was very hot and the Wi-Fi worked great. I definitely recommend staying here.

I really enjoyed sitting on the balcony with breakfast as the sun came up. The food was always delicious, and the family were very friendly. I spent two comfortable weeks here, with lovely views and such quiet around the rice field. Ubud itself can get very busy, so it was relaxing to stay just outside the city’s hectic pace, while still being close enough. The distance didn’t bother me at all. I’d definitely come back.

I came back for a second visit after first staying here in 2019, this time for a week. The house is tucked into a peaceful spot among rice fields, with jungle behind it. From my upstairs room I could watch sunsets from the balcony, and I didn’t see a single ant. Wayan and his brother were always smiling and happy to chat, and made me feel welcome. I’ll stay here again next time I’m in Ubud.

The guest house only has four rooms at the moment, so it feels private. The view is beautiful, there’s a large yard for parking motorbikes, and the Wi-Fi is very good. It’s outside the city center, which suited us, but a scooter ride into town takes only about five minutes. You get the quiet while still being close to the center. Our room had a spacious layout, a comfortable bed with two pillows each, and air conditioning. There’s a kettle with coffee and tea, plus a handy fridge, dresser and table, which mattered for our longer stay. The bedside tables have plugs on both sides, and there’s a drying rack for clothes. The bathroom is roomy and thoughtfully arranged, with a divider that keeps the toilet seat from getting wet when you shower. They cleaned the room and brought fresh towels and bottled water every day. Thanks to Wayan and his family for a great stay. Hopefully they build a pool someday, and then we’ll only come here!
