There’s a great view and the place could have been a five-star destination with a different owner, but it’s badly mismanaged and falls far below a safe standard. The pillows and linen were moldy, the kitchen and living area dirty, and the pool festering. It isn’t worth the money, even if you split the cost. The villa manager was cold and calculating. After trying to make me pay a second time through intimidation, he left me stranded. Don’t make the same mistake I did by staying here. You’ll regret it.

We paid just over AU$1,500 for a week in April 2018 because this was the only villa left for our dates. The agent, “AGNES,” was horrible, and I don’t trust these people. There are plenty of other villas, so look elsewhere. On arrival, Made, the ‘Villa Manager,’ let another couple inspect the villa. The location is in an undesirable area, not central, and daily taxis get expensive. The roads are dangerous, with huge holes and ditches, no street lights, and no footpaths. Cars and mopeds rush past, so you have to weave in and out of the road to avoid them. Construction noise came from BOTH SIDES every day, including Sundays, from 6am to 6pm. A two-level villa was being built next door, with jackhammers, concrete mixers, and hammering all day. We sent Agnes videos, but she denied the construction and became rude and abusive. Her suggestion was, ‘why don’t you just leave,’ with no refund. Guests should have been warned before booking a place advertised as ‘peaceful and serene.’ Roosters also crowed at dawn, then paused for five minutes before the construction started. The bedding, pillows, pillow protectors, and doonas were moldy. They’d tried to cover the mold with two pillow protectors, which were moldy too. We slept on mold-covered pillows for the first two nights. When we asked for replacements, we were told, ‘owner doesn’t give us money.’ They were eventually replaced. There was rubbish in the fridge on arrival, and the manager said it was ‘probably ours.’ The kitchen sink, bathroom sink, fridge, and freezer were dirty, as was the bath mat. Agnes said, ‘we not 5 star villa.’ Rusty, very old kitchen utensils and a sink full of rice were there on arrival, too. The master bedroom had no curtains or blinds, only straw blinds that let the sun through at 5.30AM. We were told, ‘that what owner want.’ There was no outdoor setting shown in the photos, and the ceiling fan didn’t work. The mosquito net had lots of holes, and we woke with many bites. They patched some holes, though a new net would cost $20. The outdoor cushions were old, stained, and moldy. The TV was small and very old, and the DVD player didn’t work. The pool was cleaned only if you asked, and it had missing sharp tiles. The master bedroom had no ensuite, so at night you had to go down a VERY STEEP DANGEROUS STAIRCASE to reach the toilet in the middle of the house. The toilet wasn’t covered, so you’d sit in the rain. The worst part was the promised return airport transfer. On the way back, Made waited until our suitcases were loaded, drove down the street, then said it would cost AU$50.00 and wasn’t included. We were shocked. We’d given our last Indonesian dollars to the family next door, who lived in a dirt shack with no power or water. He shrugged and said, ‘not my problem.’ We got out of the car because we refused to be ripped off any more. A woman on the corner who owns the art gallery charged us half what Made wanted, and she was lovely.

A really beautiful house, with an epic view, a great pool, and a great location!
