My girlfriend and I spent three nights in a lovely private villa-style room. It had a small pool and an extremely comfortable bed. The local Balinese staff were all friendly and helpful. The place seems family-run, so a few areas could use some attention, but the rooms and decor were nice, with traditional Balinese architecture mixed with modern touches. For local food, I’d suggest trying the restaurants around Bali downtown. The hotel’s food is fine if you’re after a relaxing retreat. I’d absolutely recommend staying here and would come back. P/S: Nothing to do with the hotel, but shopping at the market takes haggling. I mean starting at a third of the asking price, with the final price ending up a little under half.

The Mansion Bali has a calm, cozy, home-like feel and loads of character. I loved its classic, traditional Balinese style. The room was spacious and comfortable, the grounds green and beautiful, and the staff welcoming and kind. A lovely place to unwind on the quieter side of Ubud. I’d gladly stay again, especially if you enjoy classic design and a family-style atmosphere.

I was there for a yoga teacher training course. The grounds are beautiful, but they aren’t being maintained. I’d read complaints about damp rooms and was nervous, so I emailed ahead and asked for an updated room. They assured me I’d get one, but it was dirty and damp. I moved to another room, then another, before finding one that was fine, though still below standard. It’s a beautiful place, but it needs upgrades and better upkeep. I’d avoid booking if you want somewhere clean and closer to the center.

The pool beside the restaurant was the best one, and we had a great dinner there one evening. Our room was grand, though it smelled a little musty, which you might expect in such a damp climate. The resort was a wonderful place to stay, with restaurants and shops less than a 10-minute walk away.

Such a letdown to pay for VIP New Year’s Eve and end up with a Zumba class. I can do that for free at the gym, and if I wanted to pay for it, I’d go there. The water drums were good, at least. If you want your New Year’s Eve to be a Zumba class with only six people on the dance floor, this is the place. Such a shame for a nice venue. I should’ve stayed at 4 seasons instead of trusting the advertising.
