The host was friendly and quick to respond, and I’d personally like to come back. The villa feels cozy, surrounded by Ubud’s natural beauty, with a direct view of the rice fields. The road leading to it is a little tucked away and dark at night, though having a private driver makes that a non-issue. Being near farm fields means there can be insects around, but I didn’t encounter many.

Gunarta was wonderful, arranging tours, keeping the villa clean, and making chef’s breakfast each morning, which was included in the booking. Villa Koma worked really well for our family, with two bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs. The pool was great, and during our July stay there weren’t many mozzies around. It’s just west of Ubud, a short ride from the restaurants and centre, and also handy for getting to waterfalls. For a walk, cross the busy road and turn left, and soon you’re among rice terraces with no tourists in sight. That route is about 5km long. We loved our stay and had a great time!

The villa was modern and clean, and the massages in the bedrooms were so relaxing. Laundry service was fine, too. Misi, the butler, was helpful and accommodating, quick to answer questions and even picked up groceries. On our first night, a chef made a delicious meal with beautiful presentation. The pool was a bit chilly, and the sun went behind the villa by early afternoon. We had trouble with the downstairs bathroom because the shower flooded and the water wouldn’t drain. They came to check it, but the problem didn’t change. It’s about 20-30 minutes from Ubud town, though that’s easy with a driver or Grab.
