Akhyana Village

The location is really bad. At night it feels like a dangerous ghost town, with no lights on the road, and the road is so rough that riding a bike there after dark is difficult. The dogs are the worst part, and something needs to be done about them. The staff, though, were very good, and their service was good too.

I had a peaceful stay here by myself, with some rather cynical animal friends for company. I think the facilities are close to perfect for the price, and as someone who loves swimming, I especially enjoyed the rooftop pool. The distance from the main road didn’t bother me. Most villas near GWK are away from it, and people looking for somewhere quiet may prefer it that way. The road leading here is very rough and would need repairs. Also, the refrigerator is small for an accommodation this size, which could make cooking inconvenient if you’re staying more than a week, as I was.

The villa is beautifully designed and clean, with a kitchen and Netflix. The rooftop has a superb view of GWK, and you can watch the sunset from there. Getting to the hotel isn’t easy, though: the road is bumpy and very dark. It’s in a quiet area, a bit far from the main street, so you’ll need your own scooter or car to explore or pick up snacks. They also don’t provide much drinking water, so I had to buy my own.

Getting up to the villa means taking a bad road, which was the one downside for me. Once there, it’s a cozy place to wrap up a trip, high on the mountain and away from busy traffic. The rooftop bar has an amazing view of GWK. The villa is huge, with a big bathroom, a kitchenette, an indoor pool, a Bluetooth speaker and Netflix. The rooms were clean, all the amenities were there, and the staff were friendly and easy to approach. I’d definitely come back!
