The room was very bare bones, with no fridge or in-room safe. That surprised me, since it’s the first hotel I’ve stayed in in Bali without a safe. My friend’s room also seemed to have black mould on the curtain. The staff were polite enough, though we didn’t feel much attentiveness or care toward guests. We were there for two nights, and the property came across as old and run down compared with other places we stayed in Bali. It didn’t make a good first impression, and that never really improved. We’d thought about extending, but quickly changed our minds and even considered leaving after night one. It’s advertised as wheelchair accessible, but there are two steps at the front entrance and no ramp, which made it difficult for my friend to get in using a wheelchair. It wasn’t a good fit for us, and we wouldn’t stay again.

Mas Esron was especially helpful when I asked for a romantic restaurant recommendation before going to Ubud the next day. He suggested Malini Restaurant and made the reservation for me. It turned out to be excellent and very memorable, so thanks for that. I was there for two nights. The room was comfortable, and the pool has a beautiful, direct ocean view. Breakfast was pretty good, though there’s no gym. Check-in was friendly and very good, and the service stayed top-notch throughout my visit.

This is a budget hotel, so I wasn’t expecting too much. That’s fair. But safety is a different matter. The pool is clearly unsafe for kids: the floor is broken, tiles inside the pool are chipping, and the stepper is broken too. You can see a nail. My child got scratched by the tiles and was bleeding quite a lot. Comfort and cleanliness I could live with. Unsafe is another story.

I had several bad experiences here and wouldn’t recommend the hotel. At breakfast, I asked a male trainee to put water and ice in my bottle. He only gave me ice, then told me to fill the bottle from the display in the breakfast area. When I tried, a female staff member scolded me and said I wasn’t allowed to fill it there. I was just following what their own staff had told me, so the mixed messages were confusing. The towel situation was just as frustrating. I called reception to ask if I could change the towels, and was told yes, with no mention of a fee. That night, a female receptionist said it would cost Rp 20,000. After I explained what I’d been told, she said towels would be brought up. Reza came, but instead of handing them over, he argued and insisted he’d never said it was free. He was rude and unprofessional, showed no respect, and even asked for my personal name, which felt completely inappropriate. At check-in, the room they gave us had a leaking air conditioner. When we asked to switch, Reza said we’d already agreed to that room, though we hadn’t even seen it yet. Staff should know not to assign a room with a leak. Poor service, staff miscommunication, and extremely unprofessional behavior made this a very unpleasant stay.

The room was comfortable and the shower worked well. I kept extending my stay at MaxOne because I liked the location and the lovely roof view. A shout-out to Erlanggan at the front desk for being so friendly, and to Gede for working hard on the room cleaning. All the employees smiled whenever they saw me.
