Villa Praneva

The garden was kept clean and the pool was well maintained, which we had no complaints about at all. The rest of our two-month stay at Villa Praneva was very uncomfortable. The first week was fantastic, and the villa looked freshly done up for each new guest. After that, cockroaches started dropping from the ceiling in huge numbers. I had to ask them to fumigate because we couldn’t sleep with them falling onto the bed. A few coming in from outside would’ve been understandable, but waking up to six or seven in the bedroom was too much. The villa is very old, and the cleaning lady did everything except clean. There was mold in the bathrooms, and no one dealt with it until the day we left, when they came to clean for the next guests. The kitchen cupboards smelled so bad we didn’t dare cook because of the dirt. In the last week, the fridge broke. They didn’t replace it until I got firm with them, and we lost all our food. We had a red-eye flight and asked to check out in the afternoon. After all the trouble, the owner still wanted money to extend checkout. It’s a shame, because that made an already uncomfortable stay even worse.

The villa looks different from the photos. There are lots of insects, and the roof in the bathroom leaks. The shower pressure is so weak it’s impossible to wash properly, and the internet is poor. There are roosters and dogs around, plus a water pump on the property that supplies all the villas. Whenever someone uses water during the day or night, the pump makes a terrible noise.

Comfortable place with a pool, kitchen, and TV. Worth giving this villa a try!
