The location is good, close to Malioboro if you’re happy to walk 1-2 km. The place was a bit dirty, maybe because it wasn’t peak season.
The receptionist was friendly, and the room was clean enough. The toilet smelled bad, though, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work. It’s easy to get to from downtown Yogyakarta, right by the roadside in front of the hospital. There’s a “Hotel Vala” sign outside, and the building has an elevator. Breakfast was the Fiesta Meal, which was quite adequate.
The room was quite spacious, clean, and tidy, with a soft, clean superior mattress. I liked the unusual door lock, which has two ways to connect. There were toiletries in an Airy pouch, a sink, and a toilet, though the shower sits on the faucet handle instead of being mounted above, and the hot water takes a while to come through. The TV reception was spotty on some channels, since it relies on a local antenna or satellite dish, and the Wi-Fi was hard to use reliably despite being available on every floor. There are ornaments above the bed, a main lamp and a bedside light, and plenty of shelves, though they can make the room feel crowded. Airy left free welcome snacks, without water, but they sell out quickly. The small reception area has abstract art and lots of color. The hotel has four floors, with stairs and an elevator, and I stayed on the third floor. It’s in the Vala Hotel area, by an intersection and just behind the hospital, on the roadside. We arrived at night, and the exterior lighting looked nice. There was ample parking for 2-4 vehicles. Service was pretty good, though when I called the receptionist that night, the bell went unanswered because she seemed to be in the kitchen. I chose this Airy in Pakualaman for its generally good star ratings, affordable price, and easy access to public services like the train station. I was dropping off a mother's check-in in the Kotabaru area. It was better than never, so I might try it again on a budget trip to Yogyakarta. Thank you.
The location made it easy to get around Yogyakarta, and for an affordable price, the facilities and service were top-notch. The rooms felt cozy and relaxing, making for a memorable stay. They were a bit dirty and smelly, though.
