Andrea Hotel

Finding somewhere to have a drink in Jogjakarta can be tricky, and this hotel is in a really convenient spot for that. I only stopped by for a drink this time, but I’d stay here on a future visit.

A small place, but comfortable. I liked sitting on the partly open verandah with a beer and watching people pass by. The owner was very helpful, sharing plenty of tips for getting around easily like a local, and Rita on staff was warm and helpful too.

The veranda was the highlight for me. It’s a nice place to watch people go by and chat with other guests. We’d just gotten off the train and were walking down the alley, where there are lots of places to stay, when we saw people sitting out there and chose this place for three nights. The location worked perfectly, and we walked to most of the shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and very attentive. The room had no window or hot water, but Yogyakarta is so hot that I didn’t need hot water anyway. Hot water is for the weak!

A simple hotel at a reasonable price, with welcoming hosts and nice people. The location is hard to beat, right across from the rail station and the bus terminal for Borbudur and Prambanan.
