Batik Trinidar Homestay

Top notch.

The room was wedged between the owners’ living room and another room for rent, and there was almost no soundproofing. We could hear every conversation. There was also an uncovered gap above the doors, so light from the living room came into our room until almost midnight. Then the owners got up before 6:00 a.m. and woke us. On the second night, the light in the next room stayed on all night, even though nobody was staying there. Cleanliness was appalling, despite all the positive reviews. The floor by the bathroom was dirty, and the shower and toilet didn’t look cleaned before we arrived. There was urine and hair on the toilet seat, and even traces of blood on the mirror in our room. Having no sink made washing our hands or brushing our teeth inconvenient, and there wasn’t a trash can either.

I really miss my aunt and uncle there. The homestay was great, and the service was really good too.

It was easy to chat with the mother/grandmother, who was especially welcoming and friendly. We were offered bottled water when we arrived and hot tea in the morning, and when we left, we were treated kindly, like family. The night before, though, we didn’t feel quite comfortable. Maybe it was just that particular night, but we could still hear noise while trying to sleep. The shared toilet smelled of cigarette smoke, as if someone had been smoking in there. I also had trouble finding a bin. There wasn’t one in the restroom or living room, even though we needed to throw away tissues after using the restroom. Maybe they could post some rules, including no smoking. Thank you, and best wishes.
