Cordia Hotel Yogyakarta

The room was a decent size for the price, the facilities were new, and the staff were nice and helpful. I’d consider staying here for a short rest if I needed to be near the airport, especially for a long transit or an early flight from Jogja Airport, which is more than an hour from the city center. The trouble is the mould. A heavy smell hits as soon as you enter the hotel, and it has spread to the bathroom, drinking glasses, and even the bedsheets. It’ll get much worse if management doesn’t install proper ventilation and control the humidity. My room carpet was dusty, and I found hair from previous guests on the bed. It didn’t bother me much for a one-night stay, but details like that matter to a hotel’s reputation.

The front desk did a great job, and the lobby was clean, pleasant, and smelled nice. The location is also one of the few good things here. I booked for one night for convenience, with modest expectations for an airport hotel, but the room fell even below those. Dirty dishes were left outside the door. Inside, the sheets were stained and yellowish, there were marks on the wall, crumbs beside the safe, food on the floor, and ants. The carpet felt greasy under my feet, and the room had a strong smell that came across as careless disregard for cleanliness. Nasty. There was no hairdryer, and the water heater stopped working after two minutes. The lobby and location are the only five-star parts. I’d give the hotel zero stars.

Be careful and make sure you use the extra door latch. Someone tried to get into the room and managed to unlock the door with their own card, but thankfully the latch stopped them. I told reception about it by phone and again at checkout, but they didn’t seem to take it seriously. In Malaysia/Singapore, I could easily report something like this to the police for further action. To reach the hotel from YIA train station, you first have to go to the 1st floor (Arrivals), then take the hotel’s own lift or escalator up to the rooms. The view is only of the pickup/dropoff area and some water fountains, not planes as some might expect.

Easy to find, with lift access at YIA airport. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious, breakfast was nice, and the staff were friendly. Prices felt reasonable.
