The owner and their family were so friendly and helpful, and treated us like part of their own family. I really enjoyed the homestay’s calm atmosphere. The bedding was comfortable. There’s no hot shower, but the cold water felt just right in Yogyakarta’s hot, humid weather. A serene place, with a humble lounge where you can read or just enjoy the day.

Didot was a great guide, and I had a good experience at Grass Root Homestay. It’s good value for money, with a simple, authentic Indonesian breakfast. No hot shower, though, which is a drawback.
