Hotel Diana Jogja

The pool and leafy surroundings were nice, and the room quality was good for the nightly rate. It's also close to several well-known places. The receptionist was super friendly. Not a bad place.

The courtyard is lovely, with a nice pool, and the beds were comfortable. Our room was spacious and had some useful furniture. Staff were friendly, and the main parts of the room were reasonably clean. There are lots of restaurants nearby and a market too. It's outside the center and a bit far from the main sights, which also means it's less touristy and cheaper. The bathroom really needs renovating. The door was moldy, dirty, and falling apart, and its knob didn't work properly. There was a big gap where silicone was missing behind the tiny sink. The AC condensation just dripped onto the floor. There was paper stuffed into holes beside the toilet and shower glass, maybe to keep roaches out, but it didn't work. I sometimes saw one in the cracks beside the toilet. Cleaning seemed limited to the visible spots. The corners and taps looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. There was only a tiny glass shelf above the sink for toiletries, and soap had to sit on the shower floor. The Wi-Fi wasn't good; they restarted it once, but it needs improvement.

I was there from 6 to 20 December 2021. The staff were great and paid close attention to what I needed. The hotel itself is dull and worn, and the owners don't seem to maintain the property. The mattress could leave your back sore if you already have back problems, and the hot water was on and off. I understand tourism is having a tough recovery, but group bookings can be noisy, especially when they have morning events. Staff do warn you about that. In the end, it was an average place, though the staff's smiles and hospitality made it bearable.

The reception staff were nice, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. I spent three nights with friends, and it was a terrible experience. People were shouting in the corridor at 4 am and nobody did anything adequate. At 5:30 am, people were swimming in the central pool, making too much noise to sleep. The pool was dirty, with a visible oily layer. Our toilet leaked and the bed was very old, though thankfully the staff moved us to another room. The friendly, attentive staff listened and tried to accommodate us. The place reminded me of watching Schitt's Creek.
