Huma Yogyakarta Hostel

The common areas were probably my favorite place in the whole city, and the staff were so kind and friendly. It’s quiet but still close to everything. On my first night, I booked a private room to recover from a long-haul flight, and the bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. The room was beautiful, better than any hotel I can think of. For night two I switched to the dorm, which was spacious and private. They spray a little perfume now and then, so it smelled lovely the whole time.

The rooms were spacious and really clean, and the shared areas were lovely. Having a kitchen and a table for meals was great, and there’s a big upstairs table with beanbags that’s perfect for reading. The location is fantastic and getting around is easy, though a large wall around that part of town means you have to walk around it. Luckily, there’s a gate nearby. We loved Huma and Jojga so much that we extended our stay. The staff were wonderful, always someone at the front desk when we needed help, and they suggested great places to eat and things to do. Big thanks to the Huma team for making it such a memorable stay.

I’m local, and this was my first time staying in a hostel in Indonesia. Even in a mixed dorm, I felt I had enough privacy. The bathrooms were very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I loved the soap’s unusual scent. Though I was only there for one night, they let me leave my suitcase until evening and use the bathroom afterward too. Definitely put this place on your list.

I’ve been backpacking for seven months, and Huma is my favorite hostel so far. The check-in was lovely: a cold drink, a warm welcome, and a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were all kind and helpful, and one of them even brought in cookies her parents had made. The beds were cozy and comfortable, with more privacy than a standard dorm, and I slept really well. There’s lots of shared space for relaxing or meeting other travelers. Bathrooms are kept very clean, with separate toilets, showers, and sinks. The kitchen has everything for proper cooking, including a stove, pots, and pans, plus free coffee and tea each morning. It’s also probably the best value hostel I’ve stayed in. I wish I could find a place like this everywhere, and I’d definitely stay here in Yogyakarta.
