Merapi Hotel

I stayed a few nights at Hotel Merapi, near Malioboro Street, and found it a practical, pleasant option for a budget trip close to the city center. The location is its strongest point: Malioboro’s street food stalls, batik shops, and local markets were under a 10-minute walk away. Public transport and sights including the Sultan’s Palace and Tugu Station were easy to reach too. My room was basic, modest, and a little dated in decor, but clean and functional. It had air conditioning, a private bathroom, free Wi-Fi, and a TV, all working, and housekeeping kept it tidy. Breakfast was included each morning, with a small selection of Indonesian food such as fried rice, eggs, and local pastries. It wasn’t extravagant, but was convenient and appreciated. The front desk staff were polite and responsive, and available around the clock. There’s no gym or pool, but for short stays, the affordability, cleanliness, and strategic location make Hotel Merapi a smart choice. I’d recommend it to travelers who care more about practicality and location than luxury.
