OYO 91952 Oase Hostel

The staff were lovely, always smiling and happy to help with my many questions. I slept better here than in any dorm bed I've tried so far. The shower was roomy, with hot water and strong pressure, and the bathroom was great. There's a big locker, plus an outlet and a long shelf above the pillow for your things. I liked the location too, close enough to walk to the bus station, restaurants, bars, dessert places, and massage spots. I didn't swim, but the pool felt clean and comfortably warm. There's a kitchen for guests who want to cook.

The customer service was just perfect, and the bathroom was really nice. I stayed in the Queen Room, which was totally clean and had good air conditioning. The room isn't very big, but for the price it's worth trying. Oase Hostel is one of the best hostels in Yogyakarta.

The bed rental setup is an interesting hospitality concept and seems especially suited to budget travellers. The room had four beds stacked in pairs, each with curtains and its own shelf for privacy. The beds felt sturdy, the room was clean, and the air conditioning worked well. Breakfast was available and enough to tide you over before finding better options outside. The pool sits in the middle of the common room, but be careful, it's deep and there are no signs warning you. The location is about 1 km from the southern park, alun² selatan, and under 3 km from Malioboro street. Some of the facilities could use attention. There are both private and shared bathrooms. The private one was clean, but the shared bathrooms weren't as clean, and the water there didn't flow very well. One thing unrelated to the hotel itself: a grumpy older woman lives across the street and ALWAYS yells at people who park in front of the hotel, not in front of her house. She accuses drivers of ignoring signs even though there aren't any, and threatens to put spikes under their tires. If you run into her, just ignore her. She's been "stressed" like this for a long time. If you understand Javanese, just tune her out; if you don't, it can be free morning entertainment. I'd consider coming back as a backpacker, but not with my family.

The street near Pramirotaman is quiet, and the air conditioner rattles but cools the room. Filtered water and boiled water for tea are available. The sheets were rancid when I arrived and honestly need burning. The bathroom was very dirty, and the showers were cold.
